Category: Early Interview Week (EIW)
The Summer Associate Mentorship Program enables students who are seeking summer associate positions to connect with Georgetown Law students who have themselves been summer associates. The listed students have agreed to be contacted if you would like advice regarding your law firm interview and callback process. Click above to access the list.
If you have been accepted to a Georgetown Law journal, congratulations! Below please find an example of how to indicate this honor on your resume:
Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, DC
Juris Doctor, expected May 2016
Journal: Georgetown Immigration Law Journal
If you are participating in EIW, your resume has already been sent to employers. However, we advise you to bring an updated copy of your resume to your EIW interviews, reflecting your journal membership. This can be a great ice breaker during an interview (e.g. “Here is my updated resume, which reflects my acceptance onto the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal”).
In order to update your default resume on Symplicity for future job applications, please follow the steps below:
1. Log into Symplicity and delete your old resume from the Documents tab.
2. Upload the new resume into Documents with a new title (you can include today’s date in the title, for example).
3. Make your new resume the default resume. (If your new resume is the only resume you have, then it will automatically be the default and there won't be a "make default" button next to it.)
We all know the old saying that “practice makes perfect” and that adage is particularly applicable to interviewing. Students often tell us that by Wednesday of EIW, after several screening interviews, they know exactly how they want their interview answers to sound. We want you to be confident about your answers before EIW even starts! Now is the time to book a mock interview with OCS, click to learn more about guest coaches available for mock interviews.
Due to the holiday weekend, student bidding for Early Interview Week (EIW) has been extended to Tuesday, July 8 at 5:00 p.m. EDT. Please remember to submit your bids early. Symplicity will be EXTREMEMLY SLOW!
Student bidding for EIW closes on Monday, July 7 at 5:00 pm EDT. The Office of Career Services will be closed on Friday, July 4. Please remember to get your bids in EARLY. Symplicity will be EXTREMELY SLOW if you wait until the day of the deadline to enter your bids.
Are you interested in learning more about the various practice areas at large law firms? Check out our new “What’s Your Practice” Interview Series on the EIW page! Each brief, 5-question Q&A was conducted with an associate or partner at a firm participating in EIW and is meant to give you an idea of the work in each practice area, and what you can do to best position yourself for a career in that practice. We currently have interviews ranging from litigation to healthcare to corporate to energy law, and our library of interviews is continually growing - keep checking back for additional interviews and practice areas!
