Remember that you are not limited to only the interviews that you received through the EIW lottery!
First, you should apply ASAP directly to the firms that you bid on through EIW but did not receive an interview with. Unless the firm’s website states otherwise, email your resume and cover letter to the firm’s recruiting contact - this information is found on the firm’s website or their NALP Directory form.
You may also obtain additional screening interviews with firms that have open interview slots (as a result of student cancellations) by participating in the EIW Open Sign-Up Period, which begins on August 5th. Unlike the EIW bidding process, interviews are awarded during the EIW Open Sign-Up Period on a first-come-first-served basis. During the open sign-up period, you will see what interviews are available for the entire week of EIW. Open sign-ups are limited to a maximum of 2 sign-ups every 24 hours. Additional information and instructions are available in the EIW Student Manual.
Finally, don’t forget to take advantage of the law firm “hospitality suites” at the Washington Court Hotel during EIW. These suites may be located on various floors throughout the building, attached to a firm’s interview room, or they may be in a stand-alone meeting room in the hotel. Often they are staffed with recruiting personnel and sometimes with attorneys as well. Stopping by a hospitality suite is a great way for you to connect with a firm with which you did not get an interview, or to learn more about a firm with which you do have an interview scheduled.
