Have you ever wondered what it would be like to practice law in California? Then you’ll want to attend OCS’s upcoming presentation on the California market by Amber Handman, a recruiter with SFB Search in Los Angeles. Her program will highlight the types of clients you might have, practices indigenous to the geographic market, hiring trends, what it’s like to live there and why you might want to practice there. The program will be at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 9 (McDonough 109).
Amber has also offered to meet with six students intersted in pursuing a career in California one-on-one on a first-come, first-served basis both before and after her program. Sign up for one of these slots in the OCS office.

Law firms in other cities will sometimes hold receptions for first-year students over Winter Break. The purpose of these receptions is for the law firms to introduce themselves and get to know you for the future – it does not necessarily mean they intend to hire any 1Ls for their 2012 summer class. You should view these receptions as networking opportunities, and take advantage of any that are of interest to you. The following is a list of firms hosting 1L receptions over the break.
