The Summer Associate Mentorship Program enables students who are seeking summer associate positions to connect with Georgetown Law students who have themselves been summer associates. The listed students have affirmatively volunteered to be contacted if you would like advice regarding the law firm job search process.

OCS will be holding Callback Interview Workshops on Thursday, August 18 and Monday, August 22 (the programs will be identical).
Thursday, August 18 at 4pm in Room 202
Monday, August 22 at 12pm in Room 201
During these workshops, you will learn how to prepare effectively for a callback interview; the dos and don'ts of callback interviewing; what to expect from a callback interview; how to follow-up on a callback interview; and how to accept and decline offers. In the event you cannot attend one of the live sessions, the program will be videotaped and posted online.

The clerkship interview process can be complicated and tough to navigate. Get prepared by attending the Clerkship Interview Workshop on Wednesday, August 31 at 3:30 P.M. in McDonough 201. Emmy Berning will discuss potential interview topics and strategies for handling interviews. Clerkship interviews are often scheduled only a day or two in advance, leaving little time to get ready for an interview. This interview workshop will give you the tools you need to manage the process and feel confident in answering even the most unexpected questions.

You may have read in the legal media that a number of large firms are moving away from lock-step compensation (where associates’ salaries go up a fixed amount by class year) to a competency based model (where associates progress as they meet particular competencies, some based on practice area, and some based on general skills.) Some firms are now doing what is known as behavioral interviewing, which in a nutshell attempts to predict in the interview your likelihood of meeting a number of predetermined competencies. The interviewers often ask you to tell stories or provide examples of how you have handled a particular situation. For more examples of the kind of questions to expect, click here. These workshops will offer insight and advice on how to research and prepare for interviews, how to handle tackle difficult questions, and how to best present yourself in a down economy.
The final workshop will be held on Thursday, August 11th at 6:00pm in McDonough 200.
