Reminder - How to Succeed as a Summer Associate - Mon., April 11th (updated with panelist information)

If you are a 1L or 2L spending the summer at a law firm this year, you won’t want to miss OCS's annual How to Succeed as a Summer Associate program on Monday, April 11 at 5:00 p.m. in Gewirz 12.  In addition to hearing from a panel of recruiting professionals about what it takes to get that coveted offer at the end of the summer, you will have the chance to meet 3Ls who spent last summer at a firm and learn about their experiences.

Join Phi Alpha Delta Legal Society and Brooks Brothers tomorrow, Wednesday, March 2nd at 4pm in McDonough 206 for a seminar on Building a Professional Wardrobe.  Refreshments will be provided.  Representatives from Brooks Brothers will be discussing the main staples of clothing men and women need for interviewing and working in a professional legal setting, as well as the different styles available.   Potbelly sandwiches will be provided. Free DC Bar Event – “Annoying Habits of Associates: A Partner’s Perspective” – Wed. March 2nd at 12pm

This event will highlight things younger associates do - or don't do - that might not be significant enough to show up on the associate's performance review, but which can nonetheless make a bad impression to a partner and ultimately undermine the associate's long-term career prospects.  To provide context for why certain habits are viewed negatively, the panelists will also discuss key attributes in associates that partners value.

FAQ: What is appropriate professional etiquette for contacting IIP employers?

Though for most jobs and internships, it’s appropriate for you to follow up with employers regarding your application, please refrain from contacting International Internship Program employers from whom you have not heard. If you would like to get additional information about employers and decision-making timetables, please contact Marilyn Tucker at tucker@law.georgetown.edu, for private sector opportunities, or Nicole Vikan at nav6@law.georgetown.edu, for public sector opportunities. They will happily provide you with assistance. In addition, please continue to check the Symplicity homepage for announcements on employers who have completed hiring.  

FAQ: After accepting an offer, can I change my mind?
