"Add the explosion of applications for judicial clerkships to the signs of the recession. Federal judges received more than 400,000 online applications for 1,244 clerk positions in the 12 months ending Sept. 30, a two-thirds increase over the previous year, says the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts."

By now, most of you have heard of the Office of Career Services’ new program for job seekers: Taking Care of Business. Last semester we had over 100 students register for the program that was designed to help students overcome obstacles they encountered during their job searches.

Best Friends at the Bar: What Women Need to Know about a Career in the Law was written by Georgetown Law alumna Susan Smith Blakely. The book is "meant to assist women preparing for the profession to enable them to begin their legal careers with open eyes and with more of a level playing field than women lawyers of prior generations." Blakely focuses mainly on large law firm practice, and she provides useful advice from attorneys, judges, law school career counselors, and law firm managing partners.
