 Should I join a journal or use that time/energy elsewhere?

 Do I have to participate in Early Interview Week?

 Is it okay for me to participate in Early Interview Week if my long term goal is to work in the public sector?

 What 2L summer and post-grad public interest opportunities are out there for me?

 What courses should I consider?

 Should I do an externship or internship?

We will not provide “yes” and “no” answers, but will explore what should go into your decision-making on these important issues. 

We will also serve pizza!

This week! GHRA-Amnesty’s Annual Human Rights Film Festival: "After Innocence"

The Innocence Project and GHRA-Amnesty present “After Innocence,” a film screening event featuring guest speaker Kirk Bloodsworth,

the first person to be exonerated from death row through postconviction DNA testing.

Wednesday, March 28th | 6:00 – 8:30 PM | Hart Auditorium

Light appetizers and refreshments will be served prior to the screening. Contact innocenceproj@law.georgetown.edu with questions.

This event is part of GHRA-Amnesty’s Annual Human Rights Film Festival.

Recent Judicial Confirmations

The Senate has recently confirmed Rudolph Contreras as a U.S. District Court judge for the District of Columbia, becoming the second Latino to serve on D.C.’s federal district court.  Contreras, the civil division chief of the U.S. Attorney’s office in Washington since 2006, was approved by a floor voice vote last week.  He was nominated for the post in July by President Obama after a recommendation from Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton.

Getting Started in Alternative Dispute Resolution – Free DC Bar event on 4/5 at 12pm

Join the DC Bar on Thursday, April 5, 2012 from 12pm – 1:30pm at the DC Bar Conference Center (1101 K Street, NW) for “Getting Started in Alternative Dispute Resolution: Volunteer Opportunities in the D.C. Metro Area.”  This event is FREE, but registration is required.

Representatives from local courts and non-profit organizations will describe how their alternative dispute resolution (“ADR”) programs function and how lawyers can become involved, either as third party neutrals (e.g., mediators or arbitrators) or in support functions. After making brief presentations about their programs, representatives from each participating organization will be on hand to discuss how D.C. Bar members can become involved.
