Lisa Eckstein received undergraduate degrees in law and genetics from the University of New South Wales (Australia). She currently is a Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health writing on legal and ethical issues associated with genetics research. She previously has held positions in a number of Australian Government departments working on genetics policy and research ethics. Following this time, she worked for the Australian Law Reform Commission on its inquiries into privacy law, secrecy law and family violence. After receiving her Masters of Health Law from the University of Sydney, Lisa commenced a Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D) at Georgetown University Law Center, which was awarded in February 2013.
