Gary Dunn is a Research Fellow at the Georgetown Center for the Constitution. His current research focuses on compelled speech under the First Amendment and dignitary harm. He has also written an article on reforming the hearsay rules of the Federal Rules of Evidence, which is forthcoming in the Penn State Law Review.
Gary recently joined the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office and specializes in constitutional defense for the Strategic Litigation Unit. Prior to the AG’s Office, he clerked for Judge Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain on the U.S. Court of Appeals of the Ninth Circuit and Magistrate Judge Steven L. Tiscione of the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York. Gary also practiced at Venable LLP from 2018-2022 as a commercial litigator.
He received his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from St. John’s University and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was the Managing Editor of the Virginia Journal of Social Policy and the Law.
