Brief Bio
Alexandra Jungo is an expert in family and inheritance law, specializing in filiation law, family property law, and estate planning. She is particularly interested in the social and socio-political aspects related to family law, especially filiation law.
In her work on filiation law, she chaired an expert commission that provided guidance to the Swiss Federal Office of Justice regarding its revision. In her work on inheritance law, she serves as a member of an expert commission advising the Federal Office of Justice on drafting a proposal for new inheritance legislation. Additionally, she is a co-editor of the journals FamPra.ch on family law issues, Successio on inheritance issues, and Recht on general legal topics.
Alexandra Jungo was a visitor scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, and at the New York University, School of Law. Before her appointment as Professor of Civil Law at the University of Fribourg in 1997, she worked as part-time Federal Judge. From 2013 to 2017, she served as Vice President of the University of Fribourg.
