Georgetown Law Supreme Court Institute Previews October Term 2024
October 2, 2024
Georgetown Law faculty, students and members of the press gathered to discuss the United States Supreme Court’s upcoming October 2024 term during two campus preview panels – one for students and one for journalists – hosted by the Supreme Court Institute on Sept. 24 and 25.
The panel discussions featured faculty and Supreme Court and appellate advocates who previewed the upcoming term and answered audience questions. Among the high-profile cases scheduled for argument this term are those concerning transition care for transgender youth, the regulation of so-called “ghost guns” and the constitutionality of a state law requiring age verification to access commercial websites that contain sexual content.
In addition to the annual preview events, the Supreme Court Institute (SCI) publishes a yearly guide summarizing the cases scheduled to be heard in the new term and hosts moot courts that give attorneys preparing to appear before the nation’s highest court the chance to practice their arguments before a panel of experts.
Before the new term starts next week, watch the videos below to get briefed on some of the key cases and issues to follow. Final captions for the 2024 Student Preview video will be available shortly.
