OCS Hosted Events:

Orientation Networking Reception

Serving as the capstone event of Orientation week, this casual on-campus reception offers an early opportunity to connect with our incoming, highly motivated 1L class. The event brings together practicing attorneys, primarily Georgetown Law alumni, from across both the private and public sectors, giving students valuable insight into a wide range of legal career paths.

World of Choices: 1L Practice Area Showcase

Help our 1L students navigate the legal landscape at our annual World of Choices: 1L Practice Area Showcase! This high-energy, table-talk program offers first-year students an invaluable opportunity to explore the wide range of career paths available with a J.D. Hosted across two separate evenings, one night focused on the private sector and the other night on the public sector. It’s a dynamic setting for attorneys to share their practice area insights and connect directly with students as they begin shaping their future careers.

DC Walk-Arounds

Host a curated cohort of students right in your Washington, D.C. office through our DC Walk-Arounds.  On select Fridays throughout the fall semester, participating Washington, D.C. law firms have the unique opportunity to host a cohort of students for a 90-minute site visit. These interactive sessions allow firms to showcase their unique culture, highlight key practice groups, and share insights on attorney professional development. It’s an ideal way to build early brand loyalty, introduce students to life at your firm, and engage directly with top talent on your home turf.

Mental Health Awareness Week

Show your support for student well-being during Mental Health Awareness Week! Participating employers can sponsor healthy snack breaks or provide wellness-themed items to encourage and support our students.  Show your firm’s dedication to student well-being through this non-attendance sponsorship opportunity, complete with featured placement on dedicated office signage and promotional materials.

Virtual Coffee Chats

Connect directly with our students through our Virtual Coffee Chats! Hosted via the Flo platform over a five-week period, this virtual initiative pairs students with practicing attorneys for casual, 20-minute 1-on-1 conversations. It offers an easy, flexible way for your attorneys to share personal insights on firm life and career paths while building meaningful individual connections with our students.

Law Firm Receptions

Connect with our first-year class at our highly anticipated 1L Law Firm Receptions! Designed as an expo-style informational career fair, this event provides each participating firm with a dedicated table to highlight their brand, share practice area insights, and build early relationships with our students. Representatives can engage directly with prospective candidates as they explore different employers throughout the room. Following the event, participating firms receive a tailored resume book driven by direct student interest.

Mock Interview Program

Help our students sharpen their skills for summer associate hiring through our Mock Interview Program! Designed to mirror real-world interview processes, this flexible program matches participating attorneys with students based on geographic interest for tailored, one-on-one practice sessions. Conducted either virtually or in person, each 30-minute session includes a realistic interview followed by constructive feedback. It’s a direct, impactful way for your attorneys to mentor top talent and help prospective candidates prepare for the recruiting season.

Regional Walk-Arounds

Showcase your firm’s regional footprint to students through our city-specific Walk-Arounds in New York, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.  This program gives law firms the opportunity to host a cohort of 1L students for a 90-minute in-office session combining instructional practice overviews, firm culture presentations, and casual networking. It offers an excellent way to showcase your regional presence, connect one-on-one with prospective candidates, and highlight your firm’s unique culture on your home turf.

OPICS Hosted Events:

World of Choices – Public Sector

This program is designed to help first-year law students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the public sector landscape. Attorneys from non-profit organizations, federal, state and local government agencies, public defense and prosecutor’s offices, and public interest law firms engage with law students in this table-talk, networking event. World of Choices – Public Sector is promoted to all class years as an opportunity to learn about the myriad opportunities available to law students. 

Fall Interview Program – Public Sector

We host two virtual interview programs in the fall–in late August and mid-September. These interview programs are intended for all public sector employers who are recruiting 2Ls for summer positions and 3Ls for PAID entry-level positions. Our interview programs are pre-screened and scheduled: we distribute student applications to employers, who then select their preferred interview candidates, and we set up the interview schedule. 

Friday Networking Chats

OPICS hosts four virtual Friday Networking Chats throughout the fall semester for employers to informally connect with students of all class years. Employers meet with groups of five students at a time in 20-minute sessions. These networking chats take place virtually throughout September and October in Flo Recruit. 

Leaders in Residence Program

OPICS hosts the Leaders in Residence Program, which is designed deepens the connection between the Georgetown Law public interest community and practitioners who are making significant contributions to important and emerging areas of public interest practice.  

Lauren Dubin Alumni Ambassador (LDAA) Program

The LDAA Program strengthens the bonds between students and alumni by creating meaningful opportunities for networking, career exploration, and community building across Georgetown Law’s extensive public interest community. 

1L Public Sector Mock Interview Program

This program is a great opportunity for students to practice their interview skills in preparation for the spring public sector recruiting season.  OPICS matches interested first-year law students with public interest practitioners and mock interviews take place in mid-January. 

Public Sector Recruiting Program (PSRP)

PSRP is a consortium virtual recruiting fair that brings 200+ public sector employers from around the country to recruit students for summer and postgraduate positions.  Employers recruit students through prescreened interviews, table talk-networking, and/or through the Resume Collect component of the program.  PSRP is held annually on the third Friday of January.
