Using the Spell Check

The Spell Check utility is the best invention since sliced bread. It might even surpass that! To use this fabulous feature, follow these easy instructions.
  1. Move your cursor to the top of the document, if it is not already there.
  2. Click on the Spelling and Grammar icon in the Standard toolbar.
  3. The Spelling and Grammar dialog will appear.

  4. The Spell Check feature will highlight the first unrecognized word it encounters in your document.
  5. Click on the Change button to replace the word with a selection from the Suggestions list.
  6. Use the Change All button to change all instances of the unrecognized word to the new selection.

  7. Double-click on the red, unrecognized word, type another word over it, and click on the Change button.
  8. Click on the Ignore button to ignore the singular occurrence of the unrecognized word, but to stop at the next occurrence of that same word.
  9. Click on the Ignore All button to ignore the unrecognized word throughout the document.
  10. Click on the Add button to add the misspelled word to your supplemental dictionary.
  11. When Spell Check has gone through your entire document, a dialog will appear, stating that the spelling and grammar check is complete.

  12. Click on the OK button to return to your document.

Note: Use the Add key sparingly. It would not be good to add a misspelled word to your supplemental dictionary.

Note 2: Even though the Spell Check utility is amazing, you will still need to proofread your document. Unfortunately, it cannot tell the difference between there, their and they're. As long as they are spelled correctly, it does not care where you put them!
