If you currently hold an active Form I-20 or Form DS-2019, you must transfer your F-1 or J-1 immigration record from your previous institution to Georgetown Law before starting your studies.

You must submit your completed Applicant Information Form with SEVIS transfer information and supporting transfer documents into the International Student Portal no later than 2 weeks prior to your program start date listed on the Proof of Funding page. However, the date your SEVIS record is released to Georgetown Law can be after this deadline. You may finish current semester coursework or post-completion training with your current institution.

F-1 students are eligible to initiate transfer of their SEVIS record up to 60 days following the end date listed on their current Form I-20 or Post-Completion OPT EAD card. The Georgetown Law F-1 SEVIS School Code is WAS214F00001001.

J-1 students must initiate transfer of their SEVIS record before the program end date listed on their current Form DS-2019. The Georgetown University J-1 SEVIS Program Number is P-1-01850.

Please upload the following materials into the SEVIS Transfer Documents section of the International Student Portal:

  • Copy of Current Insitution’s Form I-20 or Form DS-2019
  • Most Recent F-1 or J-1 Visa (if applicable)
  • Most Recent I-94 Entry Record
