MICROSOFT AND APPLE RELEASE NEW OPERATING SYSTEMS
Barry Wileman, Director of Computer Support
Windows 7 is by consensus the best Windows ever. There are many aspects of Windows 7 that are substantial improvements: stronger security, an XP mode for better compatibility, gadget bar enhancements, touch-screen enabled, better thumbnail previews, a more efficient windows search function, jump lists, and easier peer-to-peer networking. The user account control has been reworked to reduce those annoying permission messages that popped up regularly when using a Vista machine. It boots up faster, shuts down faster, and is generally much more responsive than Vista.
The new Apple Leopard operating system has a number of new features. The best is that it has a mail application that is now Microsoft Exchange compatible. There are also a number of improvements to the accessibility applications for users with disabilities. The Finder was rewritten to take advantage of all of the modern technologies in the Mac OS X, and thus is noticeably faster. Other new features are customizable Spotlight search options and an enhanced icon view that lets you thumb through a multipage document or watch a QuickTime movie. It has a translation feature which allows it to run 64 bit applications. It is the best Mac OS to date.
I am sure we will all enjoy learning about them together!
