Creating a Design Template with the Image of Your Choice

You can also have sound in your presentation. Whether you want music playing throughout your presentation, or some noise on just one slide, the choice is yours.
  1. Open a blank presentation.
  2. Using the Task Pane, select the Blank Slide layout.
  3. Click on the word View in the Menu bar.
  4. Hold your cursor over the option Master.
  5. Select the option Slide Master from the submenu that appears.
  6. The Master Slide editing window will appear on the screen.
  7. Click on the word Insert in the Menu bar.
  8. Hold your cursor over the option Picture.
  9. Select the option From File from the submenu that appears.
  10. Browse to the image of your choice and click Insert.
  11. Crop, size, and position the image.
  12. Right-click on the image.
  13. Choose the option Format Picture from the submenu that appears.
  14. The Format Picture dialog will appear.
  15. Go to the Picture tab.
  16. Select Washout from the dropdown list of the Color field.
  17. Click on the OK button.
  18. Right-click on the image again.
  19. A submenu will appear.
  20. Hold your cursor over the option Order.
  21. Select the option Send to Back from the submenu that appears.
  22. Click on the word View in the Menu bar.
  23. Select the option Normal. (This step is critical: not only does it close the Slide Master view, but it insures that we will not be put back into the Slide Master view when we apply the template.)
  24. You will return to the Normal view.
  25. Click on the word File in the Menu bar.
  26. Select the option Save As.
  27. The Save As dialog will appear.
  28. Click on the dropdown arrow to the right of the Save As Type field.
  29. Choose the option Design Template (*.pot).
  30. Enter the name of the design template in the File Name field.
  31. Accept the default Save In location.
  32. Click on the Save button.
  33. Close the newly created Design Template.
  34. Open an existing PowerPoint presentation (or create a new one).
  35. Using the Task Pane, apply your new template.
