The Supreme Court Moot Courtroom
The Supreme Court Moot Courtroom at Georgetown University Law Center serves primarily to provide a venue for supreme moots. It is also one of the most technology-intensive facilities at the Law Center.

The Courtroom features pervasive Wifi connectivity. VGA and audio connections are available at both counsels’ tables and at the central lectern for the presentation of multimedia content on a large, wide- aspect plasma display, as well as on smaller flat-panel monitors positioned along the bench, at the witness’ box, and at tables. The small displays are equipped with telestrator capabilities, to facilitate the visual reinforcement of argument.

An array of ceiling-mounted cameras, controllable for pan, tilt and zoom, serve to register proceedings in the courtroom, which may be recorded locally, through the VHS decks mounted in the adjoining robing facility, or routed through fiber-optic connection to the Law Center’s media control room for digital recording or real-time web streaming.

A lectern-mounted VHS/DVD unit allows for playback of audio-visual materials. Fiber-optic links to the media control room also can provide real-time feed of broadcast information, whether live or previously recorded.

All multimedia features (in addition to ambient lighting and levels of audio amplification) can be controlled locally, through a wireless command unit, or remotely, via the Law Center’s audio-visual control room.

Orientation sessions for the use of the Supreme Court Moot Courtroom may be arranged by contacting Christopher Ballantyne at ballantc@law.georgetown.edu or 202-662-9796.
