1. Close all open windows.
2. Click on the Start button in your computer's Taskbar.
3. A menu will appear.
4. Hold your cursor over the All Programs option.
5. Another menu will appear.
6. Hold your cursor over the Symantec Client Security option.
7. A sub-menu will appear.
8. Click on the Symantec Antivirus Client option.
9. The Symantec Antivirus window will open.

   

10. Expand the Scan section that appears in the left half of the window.
11. Click on the Scan Computer option.
12. The Scan Computer section will appear in the right half of the window.
13. Click once in the check-box to the left of My Computer.
14. Click on the Scan button.
15. Symantec will begin its search for viruses on your computer. This process can last anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes.
16. When the process is complete, Symantec will list its findings.

    

17. If any viruses are found, right click on them, and choose the option Delete Permanently.
18. If no viruses found (or after you have deleted all of the found viruses), close the Scan Completed dialog by clicking on the X in its upper right-hand corner.
19. You will return to the Symantec Antivirus window.
20. Click on the Exit button to close Symantec (Norton) Antivirus.

Note: You should perform a live update before scanning your computer to make sure that you have up-to-date antivirus definitions.
