LawVault allows Law Center community members to remotely access their
G:\ Drives from off-site workstations. In order to access your files,
you need to create a folder through My Network Places
on your personal computer. Instructions for setting up LawVault using
Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OSX 10.4.x are listed below.

- Open the My Network Places window. (You can
do so by double-clicking the My Network Places
icon on your desktop, clicking on the My Network Places
option from the Start menu, or opening the My
Computer icon on your desktop and double-clicking on
the My Network Places option.)
- Double-click on the option Add A Network Place.
- The first dialog of the Add Network Place Wizard
will appear.
- Click on the Next button.
- Select the Choose Another Network Location
option.
- Click on the Next button.
- Type https://law-vault.georgetown.edu/user/faculty/YourNetID
in the Internet or Network Address field.
- Click on the Next button.
- A Connect to law-vault.georgetown.edu dialog
will appear.
- Type gulaw\YourNetID in
the User Name field.
- Type your Law Center password in the Password
field.
- Click on the OK button.
- Type a name for your folder in the What Do You Want
To Name This Place dialog.
- Click on the Next button.
- Click on the Finish button.
- Your new LawVault folder will open, listing those files that
are available on your G:\Drive.
- To edit a file located in your LawVault folder, download the
file to your local hard drive by copying and pasting it. Once
you have finished editing the file, you will need to upload it
back to your LawVault via the copying and pasting method.

- Click on the Start button.
- A submenu will appear.
- Choose the option Computer.
- The Computer dialog will appear.
- Press the ALT key on your keyboard.
- A menubar will appear at the top of the Computer
dialog.
- Click on the word File in the menubar.
- Choose the option Add a Network Location.
- The first window of the Add a Network Location
Wizard will appear.
- Click on the Next button.
- The second window of the Add a Network Location
Wizard will appear.
- Click on the Choose a custom network location
option.
- Click on the Next button.
- Type https://law-vault.georgetown.edu/user/faculty/YourNetID
in the Internet or Network Address field.
- Click on the Next button.
- A Connect to law-vault.georgetown.edu dialog
will appear.
- Type gulaw\YourNetID in
the User Name field.
- Type your Law Center password in
the Password field.
- Click on the OK button.
- Type a name for your folder in the What Do You Want
To Name This Location dialog.
- Click on the Next button.
- Click on the Finish button.
- Your new LawVault folder will open, listing those files that
are available on your G:\Drive.
- To edit a file located in your LawVault folder, download the
file to your local hard drive by copying and pasting it. Once
you have finished editing the file, you will need to upload it
back to your LawVault via the copying and pasting method.
Note: If you are a staff member and would like to
access your G:\Drive through LawVault, please contact the Helpdesk
at helpdesk@law.georgetown.edu.

A LAWVAULT FOLDER ON A MAC USING OSX 10.4.x |
Please note that the below instructions refer only to OSX 10.4.x
(Tiger). Earlier versions of OSX (Panther, Jaguar) may not be compatible
with the LawVault access.
- Click GO on the Desktop Menu and then lick
CONNECT TO SERVER.
- Typehttps://law-vault.georgetown.edu/user/faculty/YourNetID in the Server Address field.
- Click on the plus sign (+) to add LawVault
to Favorite Servers.
- Click on the CONNECT button.
- If a Verify Certificate alert should open,
click on the CONTINUE button.
- A WebDAV File System Authentication window
will open.
- Type law.georgetown.edu
in the Domain field.
- Type your Net ID in the Name field.
- Type your Law Center
password in the Password field.
- Do NOT check the option Remember
this password in my keychain.
- Click on the OK button.
- A Connected Server folder (named your Net ID)
will appear in a Finder window, listing those
files available on your LawVault drive.
- To edit a file located in your LawVault folder, download the
file to your local hard drive by copying and pasting it. Once
you have finished editing the file, you will need to upload it
back to your LawVault via the copying and pasting method.
