Using The Pharos Printing System ruler

The public computers located in the E.B. Williams and John Wolff Law Libraries all have access to laser printers. Printing costs 10¢ per page, deducted from your GoCard. To use the Law Center's public printing system (called Pharos), please follow the instructions listed below. (Please see Note 2 at the bottom of this page regarding the ability to print directly from your laptop.)

    1. Save your file, if necessary.
    2. Execute the print command from the active application.
    3. A Print Job Details dialog will open.

    4. Type your NetID in the Please Enter Your Username or Logon ID field.
    5. Enter a password for your print job in the two Please Enter a Password for This Job fields.
    6. Click on the Print button.
    7. Go to the Pharos Print Station.
    8. Swipe your GoCard through the attached card reader.
    9. A print queue will appear.
    10. Select your print job.
    11. Click on the Print button.
    12. The Protected Job Password dialog will appear.

    13. Type your print job’s password.
    14. Click on the OK button.
    15. Your document will print.
    16. The screen will revert to the Pharos Printing System desktop within five (5) seconds.
    17. If you leave the Pharos Print Station before the screen reverts, click on the LogOff button to ensure that you are not charged for someone else’s print job.

Note 1: Once you go to the Pharos Print Station, you have approximately 5 seconds to select your job from the queue and print it before the screen reverts to the Pharos Printing System desktop. If the screen does revert, simply swipe your GoCard and start over. No amount will be deducted from your GoCard until you click on the OK button of the Protected Job Password dialog.

Note 2: In order to print from your laptop, you will need to install the Pharos printing software on your computer. You can install the software yourself by following the instructions at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/pharos/SoftwareInstallation.htm or you can visit the technicians in the Technology Reference Desk and they will install it for you.
