TECHNOLOGY ORIENTATION FOR STUDENTS ruler
YOUR NETID
  • The key to electronic communications at the Law Center is your Georgetown University Network (NetID).
  • Although you have a single NetID, it is your username for both Law Center and Main Campus systems.
  • You can obtain your NetID through the Admitted Student website, located at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/admissions/admitted/index.cfm.
PASSWORDS
  • Please be advised that you have two Georgetown University-issued passwords: your Law Center password and your NetID (or MyAccess) password.
  • Your default Law Center password is separate from your initial NetID password.
  • Your default Law Center password begins with an upper-case letter A, followed by the final 6 digits of your 9-digit GoCard number. To change your Law Center password, please visit http://www.law.georgetown.edu/system/account/changepassword.cfm.
  • Your temporary NetID password begins with an lower-case letter gu, followed by the final 6 digits of your 9-digit GoCard number. To change your NetID password, please visit https://netid-mgmt.georgetown.edu/passwd.
  • To facilitate your computing experience at Georgetown, we strongly recommend making your Law Center and NetID passwords the same.
EMAIL
THE LAW CENTER’S WEBSITES
  • Various Law Center websites, such as Courseware, the Digital Class Recording  System, and the Career Services Job Listings Database, are restricted to members of the Law Center community.
  • To log into the Law Center's restricted websites, open your Internet browser and navigate to http://www.law.georgetown.edu/system/login.cfm. Type your NetID in the Username/NetID field and your Law Center password in the Password field. Click on the Submit button and the Successful Login page will open.
  • First-Class Reading Assignments - First-class reading assignments can be found at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/faculty/assignments/index.cfm. The assignments are listed in descending alphabetical order by class name, then professor name.
  • Course Materials - Course materials are now available online. You may order printed copies or download the files to your computer by browsing to http://www.law.georgetown.edu/CourseMaterials.
  • Courseware - Some faculty members have class-related websites on the Law Center's Courseware system. Instructions for using Courseware are located at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/students/studentcourseware/coursewarestudent1.htm.
  • TWEN - Some faculty members have class-related websites on The West Education Network (TWEN). Instructions for using TWEN are located at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/twen/index.htm. During Orientation, the Library provides students with account codes to access TWEN. If you missed your scheduled orientation, please stop by the Library Reference Desk for help.
MYACCESS
  • MyAccess is a secure online application that provides personal academic services, such as class registration and bill payment.
  • To log into MyAccess, navigate to https://myaccess.georgetown.edu. Type your NetID in the NetID field and your NetID password in the Password field. Click on the Login button and your MyAccess account will open.
INTERNET ACCESS AT THE LAW CENTER
  • The Law Center offers wireless network connectivity throughout the campus.
  • To connect to the Law Center's wireless network, you will need a WiFi-certified (802.11b/g/n) wireless adapter.
  • The WEP code for the Law Center’s wireless network is abfab2001abfab2002abfabfab
  • Instructions for connecting to the Law Center's wireless network are located at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/wireless/connectwireless.cfm.
PUBLIC COMPUTERS AND PRINTERS
  • Public computers are available throughout the Law Center campus for student use.
  • The computers located in the E.B. Williams and the John Wolff Law Libraries have access to laser printers.
  • To use the public computers in either law library, students must login using their NetID and Law Center password.
  • Printing costs 10¢ per page, deducted from your GOCard.
  • Information on the public printing system can be found at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/pharos/.
TRAINING AND SUPPORT
  • If you need more information or assistance on the use of technology at the Law Center, please visit the Student section of the IST website, located at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/ISTInformationforStudents.htm.
  • You can contact the IST Helpdesk at helpdesk@law.georgetown.edu.
  • The Law Center's Technology Reference Desk provides support for Law Center network connectivity, anti-spyware software, and anti-virus software. You can visit the Technology Reference Desk in the E.B Williams Law Library, Room 304.
  • The Technology Reference Desk hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Mondays through Thursdays and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Fridays, excluding University holidays.You can schedule an appointment by calling 202-662-9905.
  • The Technology Reference Desk does not provide support for hardware or software other than Law Center network connectivity, anti-spyware software, and anti-virus software. For hardware and other software support, students should contact their computer manufacturers or a local area service provider. A list of local area service providers can be found at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/students/localareaserviceproviders.html.
  • Training is available for any of the computer applications used at the Law Center. Public classes are announced by email. You can also contact Dianne Ferro, Assistant Director of Training, for one-on-one sessions at 202-662-9023 or dhf2@law.georgetown.edu.
