Georgetown Law Transcripts
*NOTE: Official transcripts contain the Georgetown University seal, and the signature of the Georgetown Law Registrar.
Effective immediately, an official Georgetown Law transcript, for current and former students with coursework beginning in Fall 2008, includes the course faculty name. Please note that for a course that is team taught only the primary course professor, as recorded by the Offices of Academic Affairs and Graduate Programs, will appear on the transcript. In addition, students requesting an official transcript, to be submitted to a third party other than a state bar, must submit that request online via the National Student Clearinghouse. Payment must be made by credit card (AmEx, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa). NOTE: Transcripts will not be released to students with account holds or blocks.
- Transcripts can be picked up, mailed, emailed, or faxed.
Transcript Update:
Beginning February 2019, “Previous Degree” will no longer appear on Georgetown Law transcripts. This information should appear on your resume; please consult the Careers offices if you have questions about how to do so.
Official Transcripts to State Bars:
Students requesting an official transcript, which will be sent to a state bar, must complete, sign, and submit a Transcript Request Form to us:
- by email (scanned form emailed to lawreg@georgetown.edu)
- by mail to:
Georgetown University Law Center
Office of the Registrar
Hotung Building, Suite 4101
600 New Jersey Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20001 - in person (Hotung Building, Suite 4101)
There is no charge for official transcripts which will be sent to state bars.
Official Transcripts to Third Party (other than a state bar):
Students requesting an official transcript, for themselves to be submitted to a third party other than a state bar, must submit that request online via the National Student Clearinghouse. Georgetown Law has an agreement with the National Student Clearinghouse to provide a 24/7 transcript ordering service to our current and former students. Using the National Student Clearinghouse Transcript Ordering Service requires the requester to submit an electronic signature to the Clearinghouse to authorize the release of the transcript.
There is a $7.90 cost per transcript, which includes an administrative fee charged by the Clearinghouse, for standard mail delivery. Express delivery options are also available for an additional fee. Payment must be made by credit card.
Notice to Law Firms: Transcript Release Forms sent directly to the Office of the Registrar should be accompanied by payment that reflects the $5.00 per student transcript fee and not the National Student Clearinghouse processing fee of $7.90.
Official Transcript Requests to Georgetown Departments/Faculty
Transcript requests to Georgetown University faculty or departments are free of charge. Please complete the Transcript Request Form and submit to the Office of the Registrar for processing.
Official Transcript Processing Time:
- Transcripts take 1-2 business days to process
- Transcripts for students who attended prior to 1980 require 3 days for processing.
Unofficial Transcripts
The Office of the Registrar does not provide electronic copies of transcripts. Current students may print unofficial transcripts from GU Experience following the directions below:
- Log in to your GU Experience account.
- Click on the “Open Student Dashboard” button on the left side of your Home screen.
- Under the “Student Information” section, click on “Student Profile”.
- Once you are on the “Student Profile” page, you will see an “Unofficial Transcript” link on the lower left side of the page. Click on that and a new tab will open up.
- In the new tab, select your correct degree program under “Transcript Level” and select Law Center under “Transcript” Type.
- If you select the correct fields, your unofficial transcript will populate and you will be able to select a “Print” button in the top right of the page.
- A new tab will open again. Here you will be able to download your Unofficial Transcript by using the icons on the top right of the new tab.
Alumni may also download a copy directly from GU Experience. If you do not have a netid and password, you may contact the alumni office at the below link to gain access. Students who attended prior to 1980 may not have an unofficial transcript record in MyAccess but may still request an official transcript from the Registrar’s Office (please see above instructions). Additional information is available from the Alumni Association’s FAQs webpage.
