At Georgetown Law, there are three levels of classrooms based on the number of seats in each room. AV equipment and system requirements and capabilities vary according to classroom level.
- Level 1 is a classroom for 30 or fewer students
- Level 2 is a classroom for 30 to 60 students
- Level 3 is a classroom for 61 to 160 students
The following minimum level of technology exists in all classrooms across the Law Center:
- PC with most common apps and utilities - an All-In-One Multi-touch 23" DELL 9010;
- Wireless keyboard and mouse;
- RF input for tuner;
- DVD player;
- Speakers with amplification;
- Rack with VGA, DVI and audio inputs for external devices;
- Projector with screen;
All classrooms are also equipped with a wall phone with speed dials to Security, Technology Service Desk and Facilities. Some classrooms also have additional equipment in place such as Crestron controllers, microphones, VCRs, audio capture, etc. We've currently implemented the first phase of the Classroom Technology Refresh project. The goal of the Classroom Technology Refresh project is to bring existing classroom AV equipment and systems up to the technology standards as listed in the sub section items on the left menu. Key technology upgrades have been made over the summer of 2013, that baseline our classroom technology. Details of these upgrades can be found on the Existing Technology page that can be found on the left menu.
As at the end of the Summer 2013, three classrooms, one from each level, have been updated to the aforementioned standards:
- Hotung 6005 (Level 1)
- McDonough 156 (Level 2)
- McDonough 200 (Level 3)
The ultimate goal of the Classroom Technology Refresh program is to bring the rest of the classrooms up to the same standards in the next few years. From that point on, an automated five year technology cycle would be applied to all the technology in the classrooms going forward.
