Jane Stromseth, Francis Cabell Brown Professor of International Law and HRI Faculty Advisor, Retires from Georgetown Law

Former HRI Director Jane Stromseth has retired from Georgetown Law after 34 years of teaching.

Professor Jane Stromseth taught in the fields of constitutional law, justice and accountability for atrocity crimes, and international human rights. From 2013 to 2015, she served at the U.S. Department of State as Deputy to the Ambassador-at-Large in the Office of Global Criminal Justice and then as acting head of the office. She previously served in government as Senior Adviser on Rule of Law and International Humanitarian Policy at the Department of Defense, where she worked on establishment of the Atrocity Prevention Board; as Director for Multilateral and Humanitarian Affairs at the National Security Council; and as an Attorney-Adviser in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the Department of State.
