Melody Vidmar (she/her) is the 2024-2026 Dash-Muse Teaching Fellow at the Human Rights Institute. A Georgetown Law alumnae, she is thrilled to return in this capacity. Before serving as the Dash-Muse Teaching Fellow, Melody was the Staff Attorney at the ACLU of Alaska in Anchorage, Alaska. She brought federal and state cases on a variety of issues, namely prisoners’ rights, LGBTQIA+ equality, the rights of people experiencing homelessness, government accountability, and voting rights. Prior to joining the ACLU, Melody was a Staff Attorney at Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition in Washington, DC, bringing federal impact litigation on behalf of detained immigrant adults and children.

Melody earned her J.D. and Certificate in Refugees and Humanitarian Emergencies from Georgetown University Law Center. As a student, she was on the other side of the Human Rights Institute, participating in the Fact-Finding Practicum (now the Human Rights Advocacy in Action Practicum) and the Human Rights Associates Program. Melody feels honored to come “full circle” and have the opportunity to help current HRI students have enriching human rights experiences while in law school. Melody holds Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Oklahoma, summa cum laude, in Anthropology and Spanish. She is barred in Virginia and Alaska.
