Peter Jaffe has had a distinguished career in government and the private sector, focusing on international law, foreign assistance, and anti-corruption issues.

Most recently, Peter was the presidentially appointed general counsel of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a leading US international economic development agency. MCC provides multi-hundred-million-dollar grants to the world’s poorest countries, investing in infrastructure, agriculture, trade, healthcare, education, and institutional reforms. Peter was a member of MCC’s core leadership team and its Investment Management Committee, working with the CEO to set agency priorities and diplomatic goals, decide on economic development projects, and determine funding allocations.

Peter advised MCC’s board of directors, which is comprised of the US Secretary of State, US Treasury Secretary, and the heads of other federal agencies. He also participated in diplomatic missions and intergovernmental negotiations, and he co-led transformation working groups reviewing and updating core agency policies and programs.

Previously, Peter served as counsel to the United States Senate Judiciary Committee, where he advised senators on legislation, constitutional issues, separation of powers, oversight of the federal courts, and executive branch appointments. Peter also served in the United States Department of Justice.

In the private sector, Peter worked at two leading international law firms, where focused on international anti-corruption issues and the impact of US and foreign laws on international transactions and operations. Peter also served as the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer of a leading international energy company focusing on delivering safe, reliable power to developing economies and transforming the grid to sustainable energy. In that position, Peter had a leadership role in priv

ate-sector economic development initiatives, including community development projects on five continents.

Peter is recognized as a leading expert in organizational and government ethics and is frequently invited to speak on these issues. Peter has served on the boards of numerous public policy and research institutions, including the Ethics Research Center and the Ethics and Compliance Association, and he served on the American Bar Association’s Global Anti-Corruption Task Force.
