Juvenile Justice Initiative
The Juvenile Justice Initiative at the Juvenile Justice Clinic seeks to raise the level of practice among juvenile defenders, both regionally and nationally.
The Initiative is comprised of a number of efforts including:
- DC Juvenile Panel Trial Practice Group: providing training and resources to court-appointed juvenile defenders in DC,
- The Juvenile Training Immersion Program (JTIP) Summer Academy at Georgetown Law: hosting a one-week intensive training program for juvenile defenders nationwide in partnership with the National Juvenile Defender Center,
- The Mid-Atlantic Juvenile Defender Center: providing technical assistance and training for juvenile defenders throughout the Mid-Atlantic region in partnership with the Mid-Atlantic Juvenile Defender Center.
- Racial Justice: advocating for youth of color in the juvenile justice system through specially designed projects and training juvenile defenders on emerging racial justice issues, such as implicit racial bias and the intersection of race and adolescence.
