Graduate Career Student Services

Welcome to Graduate Career and Professional Development.  We provide Georgetown Law LL.M. candidates with a wide range of job search, career planning, and professional development services, including:

  • Career-related advice provided in-person at our daily Open Office Hours in the Graduate Programs office (on the fifth floor of the Hotung building in Suite 5000) or in the Graduate Lounge (directly opposite the Graduate Programs office in Room 5008)

  • Small group workshops on job search strategies, resumes, cover letters, and interviewing skills

  • A select list of current networking events and job postings provided on a weekly basis through Graduate Connections

  • Interview and networking skills training

  • Introductions to Washington, D.C., metro area firms, corporations, U.S. government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, consulting firms, and multilateral organizations

  • Job Search Resources, an organized compilation of links, indices, and databases providing useful career planning information, listings of job openings, and contact and networking information across a wide range of practice fields and environments

  • InterviewStream, an online video-based interview system that allows Georgetown Law students to conduct virtual mock interviews from any computer that has a Webcam attached. Students may choose the type of employer with which they wish to interview (public interest, private sector, etc.) and the specific questions they wish to practice answering. As each question is asked, the student has a set amount of time to answer the question. The computer's Webcam records each answer and stores the recording online for review. This service essentially allows students to conduct mock interviews on demand.

  • Resume, cover letter, and professional correspondence review, starting the week after Orientation for incoming LL.M. students:

    • Send your resume to:  resreviewintl@law.georgetown.edu, if you are a foreign-trained LL.M. student, or

    • Send your resume to:  resreviewus@law.georgetown.edu, if you are a U.S.-trained LL.M. student

  • Speaker series and events, including presentations from distinguished alumni

  • Online database of job postings on Symplicity

  • Preparation for students participating in interview programs, specifically the International Student Interview Program (ISIP) and the Taxation Interview Program (TIP)

  • A Graduate Career and Professional Development-generated Spring 2013 U.S. Regional Resume Collection and International Resume Collection, which will provide the opportunity for students to have their resumes sent to employers all over the world. For a listing of the regions covered by the Spring 2012 U.S. Regional Resume Collection, please click here.  For a listing of the countries covered by the Spring 2013 International Resume Collection, please click here.
