A.B., Boston College ; M.P.A., Harvard; J.D., Georgetown . Professor Abell has been a partner at Furey, Doolan & Abell since 1975. He specializes in estate planning and non-profit organizations. Prior to that, he was executive assistant to the Maryland Lieutenant Governor and Governor, as well as Secretary of the Maryland Department of Employment and Social Services. Professor Abell has been an adjunct professor at the Law Center since 1985, teaching Judicial Philosophy of the Supreme Court Seminar, Professional Responsibility, the Estate Planning Seminar, and The Practicing Lawyer and the Poor. He has been active in various charitable and religious organizations, including L'Arche, a community in which persons with and without developmental disabilities live together.
