A.B., magna cum laude, Williams College; J.D., magna cum laude, Harvard University. Professor Bird is currently Senior Trial Counsel in the Commercial Litigation Branch, Civil Division, U.S. Department of Justice. He is lead counsel for the United States in a series of complex cases pending in the United States Court of Federal Claims relating to government and contractor claims for pension cost adjustments required when a government contractor closes a business segment. Professor Bird has taught deposition skills and trial practice to practicing attorneys as part of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy's trial and deposition programs, and has organized and presented programs on electronic discovery issues for the Court of Federal Claims Bar Association, and for Justice Department attorneys. As a former member and president of the Federal American Inn of Court, he developed and organized programs on advocacy skills, professionalism, ethics, and civility.
