Professor Bortz is US Treasury representative to the OECD Working Party on Private Pensions. Before he joined the Treasury Department in 1995, he was a partner with the law firm then named Dewey Ballantine in its New York City office, where he practiced in the employee benefit field from 1974 to 1995. He received a B.A. from the University of Maryland in 1966 and received his law degree and a Ph. D. (in Philosophy) from the University of Wisconsin in 1974.
