Arthur Cohen

B.A., Yale; J.D. Columbia. Professor Cohen is Partner in the Corporate Practice Group of Haynes Boone. He has more than 25 years of experience doing complex corporate transactions, focusing on mergers & acquisitions, financings and project development. Mr. Cohen is a recognized leader in these fields, and serves  as Chair of the ABA's Project Finance and Development Committee . He is also profiled in the 2006 edition of World’s Leading Project Finance Lawyers. Mr. Cohen’s practice focuses on several industry sectors, including energy, electricpower, sports facilities and other infrastructure. He has represented lenders, borrowers, purchasers and sellers in a wide variety of transactions, including acquisitions and divestitures, public offerings and other financings, as well as joint ventures and other strategic alliances. Mr. Cohen has worked on all facets of project development, including advising on shareholder and partnership agreements; power and steam sales contracts; construction contracts; operation and maintenance agreements; equity commitments and guarantees; state support agreements; and related contracts. He has also represented both developers and lenders in restructuring troubled projects. Geographically, Mr. Cohen has structured and closed transactions throughout the U.S. as well as in Latin and South America, Asia and Europe. Prior to joining Haynes and Boone, Mr. Cohen was Counsel to Skadden, Arps, Slate Meagher & Flom. Previously, he had been Senior Vice President, Managing Director and Counsel to General Electric Capital Corporation.
