Professor Hecht is a partner in the International Trade Group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, and concentrates in complex trade litigation and policy advice regarding legislative and executive branch initiatives across a wide spectrum of issues. He served as chief counsel to Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott in the 106th Congress (1999-2000). Among his activities in national politics, he acted on behalf of the Bush-Cheney transition as a policy coordinator for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and also served as a policy and platform adviser to the Dole for President campaign in 1996. He regularly speaks before (and provides papers to) educational and bar events in the international trade area, and has testified before Congress on key trade issues.
