Gary R. Huffman

B.S., University of Illinois; J.D., Order of the Coif, University of Texas. Professor Huffman is a Partner at Bingham McCutchen LLP, which merged with McKee Nelson LLP in 2009. Prior to joining McKee Nelson LLP, he was a Partner in the Ernst & Young National Tax Department and a Tax Associate and later a Partner at Andrews & Kurth in Houston.  With over 20 years of experience advising companies in the energy sector, Professor Huffman has substantial experience in the arcane rules of oil and gas taxation and extensive experience in the structuring and marketing of publicly traded partnerships. His clients include some of the largest petroleum corporations in the world. In addition, his practice has focused on applying partnership techniques in large corporate acquisitions, dispositions and strategic alliances (both domestic and international). Professor Huffman has written several articles and was a co-author of the fourth edition of Federal Taxation of Partnerships and Partners (Warren Gorham & Lamont, 2007), the leading treatise on partnership taxation.
