He began his involvement in dispute resolution as a Fulbright Scholar in Lithuania, where he conducted a research project on democracy in post-communist countries. There he examined the dynamics between traditional and progressive political factions. Domestically, Professor McClane has taught negotiation courses at Harvard Law School, as well as Harvard's summer Program of Instruction for Lawyers. He has also taught negotiation skills workshops for a number of private and public entities including Nestle Foods of Canada and the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. He has served as Articles Editor of the Harvard Negotiation Law Review, and conducted research as a Junior Hewlett Fellow on public dispute resolution, specifically as it applies to standardized testing and education reform in Massachusetts. Professor McClane has also worked at the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery in Chicago as well as Allen & Overy in London. Currently, he is a law clerk to the Honorable Richard J. Cardamone of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
