Mr. McTiernan is a Partner in the Washington D.C office of Hogan Lovells LLP. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells in November 2013, Mr. McTiernan worked at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 2004-2013 where he was head of the REIT group of the Division of Corporation Finance. Prior to joining the Commission in 2004, Mr. McTiernan was a senior associate at Clifford Chance LLP in New York from 1997-2004. At Clifford Chance Mr. McTiernan represented traded and non-traded REITs as well as underwriters in REIT public offerings. Mr. McTiernan is an adjunct professor of securities regulation at the Georgetown University Law Center where he received his law degree in 1997 and also lectures for the INCAE Business School / Georgetown Law Center Joint Executive Program. As a Fulbright Senior Specialist in 2009, Mr. McTiernan assisted Hong Kong University with a study of the Hong Kong REIT market.
