B.A., English, Oberlin College; J.D., cum laude, New York University School of Law. Following graduation from law school, Professor Goodhand clerked for the Honorable Amalya L. Kearse on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. After his clerkship, Professor Goodhand served as a fellow with the Georgetown University Law Center’s Appellate Litigation Clinic. Thereafter, in 1997, Professor Goodhand began work as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia’s United States Attorney’s Office. Following multi-year rotations in that Office’s trial divisions, in 2004, Professor Goodhand became a Deputy Chief in its 30-lawyer Appellate Division. In March, 2007, Professor Goodhand joined the Eastern District of Virginia’s United States Attorney’s Office as its Appellate Chief. In that capacity, he oversaw the District’s criminal appellate work in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Finally, in July of 2011, Professor Goodhand returned to the District of Columbia’s United States Attorney’s Office as a Senior Assistant in that Office’s Appellate Division.
