B.A., University of Michigan; J.D., University of Illinois; LL.M.(Taxation), New York  University.  Judge Laro is a senior judge for the United States Tax Court in Washington, D.C.  He has served as chairman of the board of the Republic Bank of Ann Arbor.  Judge Laro was a tax attorney in private practice specializing in corporate tax for over 20 years.  He was a regent at the University of Michigan and a member of the State Board of Education of Michigan.  He has authored numerous articles on taxation, the most recent being "The Evolution of the Tax Court as an Independent Tribunal." He co-authored the book Business Valuation and Federal Taxes (2011), Second Edition.  Judge Laro is a frequent speaker on tax matters for the American Bar Association and other professional associations.  He has taught the Advanced Pension Planning Seminar as a graduate adjunct at the Law Center.
