Mr. Paul-Jean Le Cannu, Legal Counsel at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID, World Bank Group), joined the Centre in 2010. Mr. Le Cannu serves as Secretary to the Tribunal in arbitral proceedings brought under the ICSID Convention and the ICSID Additional Facility Rules. He also serves as Secretary of ad hoc Committees in annulment proceedings brought under the ICSID Convention. Mr. Le Cannu regularly gives lectures and writes on ICSID arbitration and procedures. Prior to joining ICSID, Mr. Le Cannu acted as Legal Counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in the Hague, the Netherlands. He was an associate in the international arbitration department of the firm Shearman & Sterling LLP in Paris, France, before joining the PCA. Mr. Le Cannu holds an LLB from King’s College London and a maîtrise and a DEA from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. He also holds a degree from the Institut d’études politiques de Paris and a diploma in domestic and international arbitration from the Universitat de València, Spain. Mr. Le Cannu qualified as an avocat au barreau de Paris in 2005.
