Professor Martin is the Environmental Health Policy Director for the American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, where she interacts with Congress, federal agencies, law firms, state and local environmental and health departments, industry, nonprofit organizations and the public on U.S. chemical policy, environmental health and disability law. Prior to joining AAIDD, she served as the Director of the Office of Science Policy at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Before coming to NIEHS, she was Director of the Center for Environmental Policy and Assistant Professor at the Department of Environmental Health at the University of Cincinnati; served as Chief Counsel to the Governor of Indiana and as his Executive Assistant for Environment and Energy from 1997 – 2002; taught environmental law, torts, and professional responsibility the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis; served as Senior Enforcement Counsel in the Air Enforcement Division of EPA and was Director of the Office of Legal Counsel for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
