Professor Masterson is a Director in KPMG’s Washington National Tax practice resident in the Nashville office. He works with the Passthroughs and Mergers & Acquisitions tax groups of Washington National Tax to advise clients across the country on federal and state tax matters with a particular emphasis on the healthcare and real estate industries. Prior to joining KPMG, Mr. Masterson was a tax partner in the Washington office of Venable LLP, where he served a wide variety of clients with respect to state and federal tax planning, tax controversy matters, mergers and acquisitions, and structuring strategic business relationships, such as joint ventures and partnerships, and represented public, closely-held and venture-financed companies, REMICs, partnerships, limited liability companies and sole proprietors. In addition to his law firm experience, Mr. Masterson was a senior tax consultant with Arthur Andersen LLP before entering law school.
