Professor Sempértegui works as a private practice attorney and consultant, mainly in energy and extractives industries, in regulatory, transactional and litigation matters. Those services intersect with constitutional law, administrative law and ADR. Mr. Sempértegui has participated in drafting energy regulations in Asia, Africa and Latin America. His clients have included international corporations, non-profit organizations, international development entities and governments. Professor Sempértegui has served as legal expert and acted as counselor of parties in international arbitration cases.

Professor Sempértegui has taught law in different law schools around the continent for ten years and regularly trains different audiences in areas of his expertise. Also, he serves as member in corporate and non-profit boards.
