Judd is the Chief Financial Officer and a director of Hellman & Friedman, a private equity fund based in San Francisco currently investing in its seventh fund, with over $8.9 billion of committed capital. He is responsible for all finance, accounting, and tax matters. Prior to Hellman & Friedman, Judd was a tax principal in Deloitte’s M&A Transaction Services in San Francisco. Judd served leading private equity investment firms and corporate clients in structuring acquisitions and dispositions, due diligence of domestic and multinational targets, and closing transaction assistance. He also has significant experience in structuring and modeling passthrough transactions. Prior to San Francisco, he spent four years in the Passthroughs Group in the National Tax Office of Deloitte focusing on partnerships, LLCs, joint ventures, and other strategic alliances. Judd has lectured on various partnership tax M&A issues and considerations. He has authored and co-authored several articles published in Tax Notes, PLI, the BNA Tax Management International Journal, and the Journal of Passthrough Entities. He was formerly a member of Georgetown Law’s adjunct faculty (2002 through 2004) where he co-taught the Business Planning Seminar, From Start-up to Buyout.
