Continue ReadingProfessor Smith is a senior associate at McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the firm's Los Angeles office. He focuses his practice on Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) internal investigations and white-collar defense matters, including government enforcement proceedings, class actions, and shareholder derivative actions. He has played a lead role in conducting over 40 FCPA investigations throughout Asia, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, and Vietnam. Prior to joining McDermott, Professor Smith was a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School, where he taught courses on negotiation, dispute resolution, conflict assessment, and dispute systems design. He was also a Fellow with the Harvard Negotiation & Mediation Clinical Program where he worked with clients on projects focused on conflict management and consensus building. Professor Smith has also worked as a professional negotiation and communication trainer and consultant for a broad range of corporate and legal clients.
