Prior to his current position, Professor Songer was a partner with the law firm of Crowell & Moring, where he specialized in the areas of the internet and intellectual property law. Professor Songer's litigation and counseling experience includes patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, trade dress, and internet law. His internet law experience includes "cybersquatter" domain name infringement, "framing" violations, general copyright and trademark infringement, personal jurisdiction, evidence (use of Internet material), First Amendment free speech issues, class action procedures for preventative infringement program, "spam" email violations, and ISP liability. He counsels clients on security offerings, web site content agreements, web site development agreements, defamation liability, business method patents, online monitoring programs for copyright and trademark violations, multimedia contracts, offshore gambling sites, technology export programs, and the Digital Copyright Act.
