David Thompson is the Managing Partner of Cooper & Kirk and joined the firm at its founding in 1996. Professor Thompson was awarded an A.B. degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard University in 1991, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. In 1994, Professor Thompson received a J.D. degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
Professor Thompson has extensive trial and appellate experience in constitutional and commercial litigation. He has litigated numerous cases involving freedom of speech, civil rights, voting rights, takings of property, and separation of powers issues. In commercial matters, Professor Thompson has had significant trial experience in litigating large claims for plaintiffs and defendants. He has served as lead trial counsel in several major trials in which tens of millions of dollars have been awarded.
In connection with these cases, Professor Thompson has taken hundreds of depositions of senior executives, expert witnesses, high ranking government officials, Members of Congress, employees, and union leaders.
