Professor Bedell is Senior Counsel to Miller & Chevalier where his practice focuses on tax planning and tax controversy work for corporate clients, with emphasis on financial products, financial derivatives, natural resources, partnerships, and international tax issues. Professor Bedell is a member of the American Bar Association's Section of Taxation and is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel. He was Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee of the Section of Taxation from 1985 to 1987 and was Chairman of the Taxation Committee for the District of Columbia Bar from 1978 to 1979. He is a Director of the Miller & Chevalier Charitable Foundation. Professor Bedell received the Charles Fahy Distinguished Adjunct Professor Award for 1997-1998 from Georgetown University Law Center. From 1964 to 1967, Professor Bedell worked in the Legislation and Regulations Division of the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service. He served on the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation, U.S. Congress, as Legislation Attorney from 1967 to 1968. He was Assistant Legislative Counsel in 1969 and Assistant Chief of Staff from 1970 to 1971.
