Justus Getty is an Adjunct Professor of Law teaching Intellectual Property Law. Professor Getty is an Associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Duane Morris LLP. As a registered patent attorney, Professor Getty counsels and represents clients in the acquisition of U.S. and foreign intellectual property rights, including patent rights in diverse technologies such as turbine engines, telecommunication networks, semiconductors, consumer products, and medical devices. He has represented clients before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and in intellectual property litigation before various U.S. District Courts. He is also a frequent contributor to the Duane Morris PTAB Practice Blog.
Professor Getty maintains an active pro bono practice in the field of veterans law, and is accredited to represent clients before the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Prior to his legal career, Professor Getty served as a nuclear engineering officer in the U.S. Navy, where he deployed in support of counter-narcotic operations aboard USS Rentz and in support of diplomacy operations aboard USS Nimitz. He later served as a policy analyst on Navy staff in Washington, D.C.
