Practice Areas
Attorneys practice law in many different settings, including law firms, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. Within each of these settings, attorneys may focus on one or several practice areas.
These pages will help you to begin exploring some of the more common practice areas. Each page provides a brief description of the practice area, the type of work lawyers in that area do, suggested resources, and example employers.
For additional practice areas, HG.org features over 70 core areas of practice, with 190 sub-specialties. Another great article to check out is Chambers Associates, Choosing a Practice Area.
